| Green Thumb Markets takes great pride in raising hundreds of our famous 10", 12”, l4", 16" and 18” hanging baskets. Many people ask why we grow only the large baskets. There are a couple of reasons. One is because the soil volume in large baskets is greater so the plants will not get root bound. With more soil the plants and flowers will become larger, creating a splash of color wherever placed. Green Thumb also likes to STAND out from the other growers and “chain” stores that offer the same old tiny baskets. We offer a wide range of baskets that grow in the sun or shade, new types of flowers and, of course, the old favorites. The Wave, Super, or Tiny petunias are our most popular baskets. These varieties produce many flowers on each plant and they are by far the showiest and require no deadheading, which our customers enjoy very much. One of our partial sun loving baskets is our one year old Ivy geranium baskets in a wide variety of colors.
Caring for Green Thumb Markets' Tub Gardens And Hanging Baskets is easy. Tubs and Baskets, like humans, need Light, Water, and Feed [fertilizer], when they need it not when you want to provide it. The sunlight they need changes with the type of plant. If it is a shade loving plant only some sun is needed and if it is a sun loving plant more sun is needed. When Tubs and Baskets need water, make sure they get enough so the water comes out the bottom of the container. Feeding is easy also. All our Tubs and Baskets need feed once a week using a liquid all-purpose fertilizer. Use a 1 gallon container, fill it half full of hot water, add the recommended amount of fertilizer and mix well, then add the other half using cold water, mix again and you are ready to feed. Watering the Tubs and Baskets with fertilizer also requires the fertilizer mix to come out the bottom of the container. Now watch your Tub or Basket give you beauty all summer long and it takes only a little loving care.
These care tips will work on our Tubs and Baskets sold at Green Thumb Markets. Other growers or discount centers may be using a different soil mix and therefore we don't recommend any of our care tips for their Tubs or Baskets.
